The big question…
“Downloading torrent files is legal or illegal?”
Creating and downloading torrent files is legal (it is not illegal) But downloading any content which is protected by copyright is not legal. So even you use torrent or not you must check the copyrights of the content that you want to download.
This likes that for example Using knife is absolutely legal. But if you hurt someone by using a knife then it is a serious crime. So you must be careful while downloading a torrent file

Welcome to the exciting world of bittorrent downloading! While file sharing is controversial and often accused of being ‘music piracy’, millions of users continue to share their files, and thousands of new torrent users are added every day.
To get you started, here are 5 quick tutorials for beginning torrent users. We recommend that you read the following articles in order. We also recommend that you install reliable antivirus software before you actually start downloading.
Happy reading, and enjoy your new torrent download experience!
1. Torrents 101: Understand How Bittorrent File Sharing Works
2. The Best Torrent Software
Torrent downloading requires special software that can read .torrent files. These torrent software products also need to provide management control over download and upload speeds, priorities, and cataloging.
3. Best Torrent Download Sites: How to Find Torrent Movies and Music
Once you understand torrent ‘swarming’ and have the torrent software installed, now it’s time to find the .torrent pointer files that get you the music and movies you want. Many torrent sites offer searching services for free (but with the annoyance of banner advertising). Some torrent sites are private communities that closely guard their catalog of torrents.
4. Warning: How to Spot Fake Torrent Files
Sadly, there are vandals, thieves, and scammers out there who will use phony torrent files to put malware on your computer. By disguising their nasty software as attractive movies and music downloads, these scammers seek to deceive you into installing their stuff. RAR files, WMV files, password-protected files: these are just some of the ways torrent files are faked.
5. Protect Yourself from Bad Torrents with Antivirus
There are many good antivirus products to choose from. But when it comes to free antivirus tools, there is one product that really stands out: Avira. In repeated tests by several computer professionals, Avira consistently caught more malware infections than its competition.

With anti-piracy outfits and dubious law-firms policing BitTorrent swarms at an increasing rate, many Bittorrent users are looking for ways to hide their identities from the outside world. To accommodate this demand we’ll give an overview of 5 widely used privacy services.
With an increasing number of BitTorrent users seeking solutions to hide their identities from the outside world, privacy services have seen a spike in customers recently. Below we’ve listed some of the most-used services that allow BitTorrent users to hide their IP-addresses from the public.
The services discussed in this post range from totally free to costing several dollars a month. The general rule is that free services are generally slower or have other restrictions, while paid ones can get you the same speeds as your regular connection would.
VPN (strongly recommended!)
Hundreds and thousands of BitTorrent users have already discovered that a VPN is a good way to ensure privacy while using BitTorrent. For a few dollars a month VPNs route all your traffic through their servers, hiding your IP address from the public. Some VPNs also offer a free plan, but these are significantly slower and not really suited for more demanding BitTorrent users.
Unlike the other services listed in this article, VPNs are not limited to just BitTorrent traffic, they will also conceal the source of all the other traffic on your connection too. BTGuard, StrongVPN and Itshidden are popular among BitTorrent users, but a Google search should find dozens more. It is recommended to ask beforehand if BitTorrent traffic is permitted on the service of your choice.
BTGuard (strongly recommended!)
BTGuard is a proxy service that hides the IP-addresses of its users from the public. The service works on Windows, Mac, Linux and as the name already suggests, it is set up specifically with BitTorrent users in mind. Besides using the pre-configured client, users can also set up their own client to work with BTGuard. It works with all clients that support “Socks V5″ proxies including uTorrent and Vuze. In addition, BTGuard also includes encryption tunnel software for the real security purists.
After these words of praise we’re obligated to disclose that BTGuard is operated by friends of TorrentFreak, but we think that should be interpreted as a recommendation.
TorrentPrivacy
Torrentprivacy is another proxy service for BitTorrent users, very similar to that of BTGuard. It offers a modified uTorrent client that has all the necessary settings pre-configured. The downside to this approach is that it is limited to users on Windows platforms. TorrentPrivacy is operated by the TorrentReactor.net team and has been in business for more than two years.
Anomos
“Anomos is a pseudonymous, encrypted multi-peer-to-peer file distribution protocol. It is based on the peer/tracker concept of BitTorrent in combination with an onion routing anonymization layer, with the added benefit of end-to-end encryption,” is how the Anomos team describes its project.
Anomos is one of the few free multi-platform solutions for BitTorrent users to hide their IP-addresses. The downside is that it’s not fully compatible with regular torrent files as Anomos uses its own atorrent format. Another drawback is that the download speeds are generally lower than regular BitTorrent transfers.
On the uTorrent Idea Bank, more than 1,600 people have asked for the Anomos protocol to be built in to a future uTorrent build, making it the second most-popular suggestion overall.
Seedbox
A seedbox is BitTorrent jargon for a dedicated high-speed server, used exclusively for torrent transfers. With a seedbox users generally get very high download speeds while their IP-addresses are not shared with the public. Once a download is finished users can download the files to their PC through a fast http connection. FileShareFreak periodically reviews several good seedbox providers.
Shhht
And then there’s Usenet.

Based on About.com’s reader the top torrent download sites of 2011
- New: Torlock Torlock is special. These folks actually pay their users commission for uncovering fake torrents and reporting it to their community. In a world of phony files, this is a tremendous service. If you are a regular downloader, and are tired of wasted downloads and fraudulent files, give Torlock a try.
- Kick Ass Torrents.com This site is a new favorite with a growing community. The interface is a distinctive earth color, and the search results display in a useful format of columns, including torrent health. The best part of Kick Ass Torrents is their comment and feedback system… the user community watches the quality of torrents, and offers their recommendations and warnings. Kick Ass Torrents could become a very big player in the P2P world of 2010. Check these folks out, and let’s see if they grow in user size.
- VCDQ.com: VCDQ.com isn’t technically a torrent search site; rather, VCDQ specializes in verifying torrents. VCDQ employs a committee of serious users to confirm that torrents do indeed exist for thousands of titles, especially brand new movie releases. Use VCDQ to confirm that a title is available, then copy the torrent name to paste into a search engine like Isohunt.com. Definitely give VCDQ.com a try; this is a great resource for avoiding fake torrent files.
- BitSnoop.com This site was recommended by reader Melody, who speaks very highly about its navigability, reliability, and clean design. Using a growing community of users to help police the content, BitSnoop offers minimal advertising and reassuring tagging of good torrents. Look for the green ‘verified’ tags, and you’re bound to find good downloads here. Definitely try BitSnoop.com, and let us know what you think of this newer site.
- Torrents.to This site has a Tonga country domain name, but certainly offers plentiful metasearching of movies and music in English and Spanish. There are some popup advertisements that are annoying, but perhaps you might like the framed interface for searching other torrent sites.
- Demonoid.com Demonoid is a private community, and members are held liable for any leeching that their invited friends do in this community. If you are lucky enough to get a Demonoid membership, invite your friends carefully, lest you lose your own membership.
- Torrentcafe.com This site is new, and needs to grow its user base some more. But Torrentcafe comes highly recommended by several About.com readers, so please give it a try and let us know how you like it.
- TorrentZap: TorrentZap is not as large of a catalog as other torrent search engines. And, as with all sites, you need to endure advertising to keep it a no-cost service. But the interface is clean, bright, and easy to navigate. Try this site out, skip past the ‘external search results’ to find the real torrents at TorrentZap, and let us know what you think.
- CinemaTorrents: this site offers something really unique: IMDB ratings and vote information right on the search page. You can see public opinions on the movie itself before you download.
- LinuxTracker.org (For legal linux torrents and virtual machines.)
- Torrent Root: as another metasearch engine, Torrent Root will scan through other search engines on your behalf, and display the results in a slick tabbed interface.
- Torrent Tree
This search site is written in Ajax code language. Like any metasearch engine, Torrent Tree pulls its results from many other search engines. But Torrent Tree pulls *more* search results than any other current metasearcher. Definitely give this site a try. - Isohunt.com Isohunt is a longtime site that has earned both the respect of P2P users everywhere…and the negative attention of the recording industry. While being sued by the CRIA, the Isohunt team continues to provide solid service. The Isohunt community monitors itself for fake files. When choosing your torrents, read the user comments, and only trust those files that have earned multiple green positive replies at Isohunt. Avoid any torrents that have red font numbers and negative comments, and you should be have good experiences at Isohunt. NOTE: adult advertising has become very prevalent at Isohunt, but if you can put up with the skimpily-clad girls, this site continues to be one of the true standout torrent services.
- Blues Brothers: Blues Brothers is a private site with a strong community and file-sharing ethic. As a private site, you can expect the leeching (selfish) users to be reduced. The BB community also strives to police itself by carefully watching each member’s upload ratio… if you abuse your ratio, you are blocked from downloading until you donate. This policy may seem a bit harsh, but members seem to really appreciate it.
- Fenopy has some compelling features. Fenopy is fully integrated with IMDB and Last.fm radio, so it offers engaging information for discovering movies and music. A graphics gallery of large and motivating thumbnails adorns the home page, and the fake finder feature is also very useful for avoiding bad files. Definitely give Fenopy a try.
- Flixflux: a UK torrent site that is very popular with European downloaders. The advertising is not suitable for young people, and the sponsored links get mixed in with the torrent results. But many UK readers highly recommend this site for movies and music.
- Torrentbit.nl This Netherlands site offers a simple interface and large index of torrents. It also offers a broad selection of European language movies and music.
- Nowtorrents.com Now Torrents (allegedly) offers a special service: it filters out fake/dead torrents. It also offers date-range searching, so you can search for specific years of content (e.g. Flight of the Conchords, 2008).
- Scrapetorrent.com is another torrent meta-search engine that is gaining popularity. The site can be slow to load, but the interface is pleasing, and advertising is kept to a minimum at Scrapetorrent.
- Plentyoftorrents: this is a kind of launchpad search engine that offers choices where you want to search. Multiple users have recommended Plentyoftorrents this summer; let us know what you think of this site.

Apple has never been too keen on BitTorrent clients, blocking every single
one from ever reaching the App Store. But even if you don’t want to jailbreak
your phone, there’s a way around this restriction, and best of all, it’s totally
free!
Let me first begin by saying that if you have a jailbroken phone, you can
simply download a torrent client (here, here, or here) from Cydia.
Okay, so the first step is to install Filer, an iOS App that lets users manage different files, as
well as download them. For the purpose of this tutorial, the Lite version is
enough, but if you’re looking to store more than 7 files, the $3.99 full version is highly recommended. You’ll also need a www.torrific.com account, which you can get here free of charge. Please make sure you use a real email
address, since you’ll need it later.
First off, open your browser, from your desktop or your phone, you’ll only
need the phone in a bit. From there, locate the torrent you want to download and
copy its URL. Once you’ve done that, point your browser to
www.torrific.com, a service that lets you download torrent files without a
Torrent client. Can you see where I’m going with this already?
Paste the torrent’s URL into the only text field on Torrific and hit “Get”.
You’ll then see another screen so you can make sure you’re getting the real
file. If everything looks like it should, click “Initiate BitTorrent
Transmission”. You’ll then get a login screen, if you haven’t logged in already.
Please enter your details. From this point, the torrent you’re so eager to get
your hands on is already supposed to be downloading behind the scenes, on the
site’s servers, even if you leave your browser or shut down your computer or
phone.
Once the download is done, you’ll receive an e-mail notification with a
direct link to your file. From your iDevice (no, you can’t do this on your
computer), copy that direct link, open Filer app and point it to said direct
link. The download should begin momentarily.
As a final word of caution, keep in mind you’ll need a fast connection to do
this properly, since you’ll have to download large files. Wi-Fi is highly
recommended, and 3G if there’s no other option, as long as you have a generous
data plan. Also use common sense when downloading files onto a device with
really limited storage: make sure you have enough space on your phone (you can
find out by going to System Settings > General > About).

Bittorrent Clients to Download Torrent Files from Btjunkie
These four freeware bittorrent clients are rated excellent as they performed at or near the top of all the bittorrent clients on all of the test torrents. Additionally, all of these clients had stable RAM use. All four of these clients, in addition to their excellent performance and stability, have clean installs and there is no need to be careful during installation.
I have put together set up guides for all these excellent clients and there are links in the Related Links section at the end of this review.
qBittorrent is my top pick in this review. I was unaware of the existence of this client until it was suggested by IronPlatypus in the comments here. In addition to performing excellently on all torrents, qBittorrent was also stable and efficient in both operating systems tested. Its RAM use was low and stable as was its CPU use. It has all the features that an ordinary user would want and is unlikely to cause issues on any Windows system. The downside to this client is that it basically is a one person operation, which might affect growth and support. The updates seem to be coming regularly, so the growth is not an issue as of yet (in fact there was an update-not tested-just before I began re-doing this review). Support is an issue though. The Wiki and Documentation are out of date and I still have not received a confirmation of registration at the forums after a month. In spite of the support deficiencies, I think users will be pleased with this client due to its excellent performance and stability.
Note: After receiving a comment from “jim from scotland”, I would caution against using the “Lock” feature of qBittorrent until I can gather more information on it.
Pros: Low and stable RAM and CPU with all the necessary features. Performs excellently on torrents and is unlikely to cause any issues..
Cons: Basically a one person operation, which could affect progress. Support is not at the level that it should be.
Tixati is a newer bittorrent client that entered this review for the first time last year. Of course, it performed excellently on the test torrents (or it would not be here), but it is also an appealing client, with its varied GUIs and layout. Tixati was very stable in both RAM and CPU on the Windows 7 machine, but did have some spikes in CPU on larger torrents on the XP. Of course, even if you have an XP you may not have those spikes and in any event they were not extreme and the RAM use was still stable on the XP. In short if you have Windows 7, you will find this to be an excellent client that has low RAM use and no issues. If you have XP you might get some occasional spikes of CPU up to 15%. In either event, the client is an excellent choice. Tixati always seems to be in active development and the developers are receptive to users input. Their help facilities have grown and are kept up to date. Their forums are responsive, but not at the level of µTorrent’s, which has the best support forum. If not for the slight CPU issues on my XP system, this well could have been the top pick.
Pros: Generally stable and efficient with a good variety of options. Developers are active and responsive to user requests. Attractive interface. Good help resources. Excellent performance on torrents.
Cons: Had some minor CPU issues on larger swarm torrents.
Deluge missed the list last time around, but its performance this time put it among the top performers. The Windows version of this freeware bittorrent client is not the primary focus of the development team and it does show a bit. On my Windows 7, the RAM and CPU used were stable, but there were some display issues. On the XP system RAM use was stable, but some CPU spikes on the more active torrents and again some display issues. Still this client performed excellently, the CPU spikes (up to 20%) were not extreme and the GUI issues were not that important overall. The first two clients here would not be accepted at most private torrent sites as they are quite unknown to most. Deluge does have a good reputation and is accepted at most private sites. Its forums, user guide and FAQ provide a good level of support. With a few tweaks in performance and display, this could well be the top pick.
Pros: Cross platform client that is stable for the most part and efficient. Well accepted at private trackers. Excellent performance on torrents. Good help resources.
Cons: Some CPU spikes (up to 20%) on larger swarms. Some GUI issues.
Halite is a client that made it into the top client list in my last review and I had hoped this client would make its move to the top as it is the most efficient client of all I have tested and only needed some additional features to move up. However, the latest version available at the time of testing had extreme CPU issues on my XP (and I am apparently not the only one). The previous version worked fine, but given the issues I and others had, I was disappointed to not see an update for Halite resolving those issues. Halite performed excellently on the Windows 7 PC with extremely low and stable RAM and no CPU issues. So for many this would be a good choice. Their help facilities are limited as there are no guides or documentation. Their forums appear to be well tended.
Pros: Low and stable RAM use. Working versions had low CPU use. Excellent performance on torrents.
Cons: Latest version at time of testing caused CPU issues for significant minority of users and Halite was slow to respond. Help resources need an upgrade.
Why would you still use Btjunkie, you ask now that it’s just like Google and Yahoo, and you can search for torrents with those? While we won’t dispute that claim, there’s a fundamental difference: On Btjunkie you get ranking by constantly updated seeds/leechers and ratings, statistics specific for BitTorrent, in addition to search relevancy and age. A general search engine also do not group as one multiple, identical torrents spread on different websites on the Web. Your continued use of isoHunt will also support our upcoming appeal against the MPAA, and we thank you in advance.
Follow next 4 steps to download bittorrent files from Btjunkie.or
- Step 1: Download and install a BitTorrent client.
- Step 2: Click on a torrent from btjunkie and select open file.
- Step 3: Your BitTorrent client should open up and ask you where you would like to save your download.
- Step 4: Wait for your download to finish!
